GuardianLive ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

- Name: Used to identify you to your emergency contacts
- Email Address: Used for account authentication and communication
- Phone Number: Used for account verification and emergency notifications
- Profile Picture: Optional, used to personalize your account and share with emergency contacts
Location Information
- Real-time Location Data: We collect your device's precise location when you use location tracking features
- Location History: We may store your location history to provide emergency services with your whereabouts
- Background Location: When enabled, we collect location data even when the app is closed or not in use to provide emergency tracking features
Contact Information
- Emergency Contacts: We collect and store information about contacts you designate as emergency contacts, including their names, phone numbers, and relationship to you
- Contact Requests: We process contact invitation requests you send and receive
Usage Data
- App Activity: Information about how you interact with the app, including features used and settings configured

When you trigger an emergency or your countdown timer expires, we share:
- Your name and profile picture
- Your current location
- The severity level and nature of the emergency
- Any emergency messages you've configured
With Service Providers

- Supabase: Database and authentication services
- AWS S3: Secure storage for profile pictures and media
- Push Notification Services: To deliver alerts and notifications
- Sentry: Error tracking and app monitoring (anonymous data only)

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to:

Data Storage and Security
Security Measures
- All data is encrypted in transit using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS)
- Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text
- PIN codes for emergency features are encrypted and stored securely
- Profile pictures and media files are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls
Data Retention
- Active Accounts: We retain your data while your account is active
- Deleted Accounts: Upon account deletion, we remove your personal data within 30 days
- Emergency Records: Emergency event logs may be retained for a limited period for safety and legal purposes
- Location History: Location data is retained based on your preferences and can be deleted at any time
Data Location
Your data is stored on servers provided by our service providers, which may be located in various countries. We ensure these providers maintain appropriate security standards.
Your Privacy Rights
You have the right to:
- Access Your Data: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct Your Data: Update or correct inaccurate information in the app settings
- Delete Your Data: Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Export Your Data: Request an export of your data in a portable format
- Opt-Out: Disable location tracking or other features (note: this may limit app functionality)

How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your account directly in the app:
- Open the GuardianLive app and go to your Profile tab
- Tap Settings
- Scroll down and tap Delete Account
- Step 1 - Verify Password: Enter your account password and tap "Verify Password"
- Step 2 - Confirm Deletion: Type "CONFIRM" (in capital letters) in the text field
- Tap Delete My Account Forever
- Review the final warning and confirm your decision
What gets deleted:
- Profile information (name, email, phone number, username)
- Profile picture and uploaded media
- All emergency contacts
- Location history and tracking data
- Emergency timer history and records
- All app settings and preferences
Note: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your data will be completely removed from our servers within 30 days.
If you're unable to access the app, you can request account deletion by emailing admin@guardianlive.org with your registered email address.
Location Services
Permission Requirements
- Foreground Location: Required to track your location when using the app
- Background Location: Optional, but necessary for emergency tracking when the app is not active
- Always Allow: Recommended for full emergency protection features
Disabling Location
You can disable location services through your device settings. Note that this will prevent the app from providing location-based emergency features.
Children's Privacy
GuardianLive is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
- We process subscription payments through Apple App Store and Google Play Store
- We do not store your payment card information
- Subscription management is handled through your app store account
- We collect minimal transaction data (subscription status, tier) to enable premium features
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Sending you a notification (for significant changes)
Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
